Timber raised planters
Hardwood or softwood, lined on the inside so wet soil is not sitting against the boards. Unlined timber planters rot from the inside out and give no warning.
planters
Raised planters add structure, character and practical growing space to any garden, helping define different areas while improving planting conditions and drainage. SP Outdoor Solutions designs and builds bespoke raised planters across County Durham and the North East using timber, natural stone, brick, block and composite materials. Each planter is carefully planned around the size and layout of the garden, the style of the property and how the space will be used, creating a finished feature that feels like a natural part of the wider landscaping rather than an addition added later.
why choose us
Raised planters work best when they are designed as part of the wider garden rather than added as an afterthought. SP Outdoor Solutions considers the size, position, materials and surrounding landscaping to create planters that feel balanced and intentional within the space.
We use quality materials and careful construction methods to create durable planters that not only look good but also provide practical growing space, improved drainage and long-term value for your garden.
WHAT WE OFFER
Bespoke raised planters designed to add structure, planting space and character to your garden.
Hardwood or softwood, lined on the inside so wet soil is not sitting against the boards. Unlined timber planters rot from the inside out and give no warning.
The heaviest option, so it goes on a proper footing rather than straight onto a patio. Also the one that will outlast everything else in the garden.
Built to match the brick of the house, or rendered to match the walls. Drainage holes through the base course, otherwise the soil sits waterlogged all winter.
Nothing to rot and nothing to treat, in the same colours as composite decking — so planters and deck age at the same rate rather than drifting apart.
Drip line run into the beds on a timer. Raised soil dries out faster than ground-level borders, which is the usual reason a new planting scheme struggles in its first summer.
Planters formed as part of the patio build, often at seating height so the wall doubles as a bench, with lighting ducted in before anything is closed up.
Deep enough for root crops and set at a height you can work at without kneeling. Lined, and spaced so you can reach the middle from either side.
Proportioned to the space rather than built to a standard size — and sized for what is actually going in it, since a tree and a herb bed need very different depths.
