Block paving patios and paths
Foot traffic needs far less depth underneath than a car does. Same blocks, shallower build-up, and the cost reflects that.
Herringbone, stretcher bond and basket weave
Herringbone interlocks hardest, so it goes where vehicles turn and brake. Stretcher bond and basket weave suit paths and patios where loading is light.
Contrasting border details
A second colour run around the perimeter, or used to mark out parking bays and thresholds. It frames the surface and hides the cuts at the edges.
Edging and kerbing
The restraint that holds everything else together. Without a fixed edge the outer blocks creep outwards under load and the whole field loosens.
Drainage channels
Channel drains set into the surface and falls laid to run water towards them, so rain leaves the paving rather than sitting on it or heading for the house.
Repairs and re-sanding
Sunken areas lifted, relaid to level and the joints refilled with kiln-dried sand. Joint sand washes out over the years, and loose joints are what let blocks move.
